Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Design: Breaking new ground in automotive design, the original R-Class combined the robust, muscular styling of an SUV with the elegance and dynamism of a luxury saloon.  As you’ll see from the Images of the All New R-Class - the vehicle’s distinctive looks have been further enhanced by an array of inspired design tweaks.

Eye-catching details include the new-look bi-xenon headlamps and grille, plus reworked front bumper, bonnet and wings. LED daytime running lights are another key feature, along with new fibre-optic tail lights, indicator lamps and rear fog lamps with LED technology. The rear bumper – complete with integrated chromed tailpipe trims and black diffuser-style lower section – has also been restyled. New alloy wheel designs, new paint finishes and privacy glass fitted as standard further enhance the vehicle’s striking good looks. 

Interior: Fine quality materials, impeccable finish and generous amounts of space – these are the hallmarks of the latest generation R-Class interior. New features include aluminium dashboard trim and a redesigned instrument cluster. A nappa leather trimmed multi-function steering wheel with gearshift paddles ensures a comfortable and rewarding driving experience. 

Luxurious Artico artificial leather upholstery comes as standard – real leather is optional - and all seats feature distinctive new piping and stitching and a redesigned front armrest. Standard equipment includes heated front seats with full electric adjustment and 4-way electric lumbar support, pre-wiring for the rear-seat entertainment system and Bluetooth® connectivity for hands-free phone calls.

Versatility: The most spacious car in the Mercedes-Benz range, the new generation R-Class provides all the flexibility your lifestyle demands. Both models can comfortably accommodate seven people and still have ample room in the back for shopping or sets of golf clubs. 

Should you have fewer passengers on board, the potential load capacity is enormous. For example, with its second and third rows folded, the long wheelbase R 350 CDI L offers a vast 2,385 litres of load space – the equivalent of six good-sized suitcases – and can easily handle awkward, unwieldy objects too.  For added convenience, the optional Easy-Pack powered tailgate operates electro-hydraulically and can be controlled remotely via the key fob or head unit. Comfort: Seating in the R-Class combines opulent style with outstanding comfort and support. Heated front seats offer full electric adjustment and 4-way electric lumbar support, and sumptuous Artico man-made leather upholstery features throughout.

For even greater comfort and convenience, choose the optional Luxury Seat Package which comes with a choice of leather upholstery and includes the Multi-Contour Seat Package for the front seats. With this advanced system, independently adjustable air chambers tailor support to suit your needs. 

In addition, the Luxury Seat Package incorporates the Memory Package, which saves individual settings for the front seats, exterior mirrors and steering column – ideal if the car is regularly used by different drivers. Crash-active escape assistance is another key feature, automatically moving the steering column upwards when the driver’s door is opened following a collision.

Automatic Climate Control: Designed with stress-free driving in mind, the new generation R-Class comes with Automatic Climate Control as standard. This innovative system enables separate climate zones to be set for driver and front seat passenger areas.

Optional Luxury Automatic Climate Control offers even greater flexibility, allowing different air distribution to be set for the left and right side of the R-Class, plus the rear passenger compartment. Integrated sensors monitor sun, pollution and humidity and manage the cabin atmosphere accordingly. Luxury Automatic Climate Control can be further enhanced by an optional control unit for rear-seat passengers.

Multi-function steering wheel: Trimmed in exquisite nappa leather, the multi-function steering wheel is the nerve centre of the new generation R-Class. Ergonomic integrated thumb controls enable drivers to perform a range of functions without distracting their attention from the road. For example, you can choose radio stations, adjust music volume, make phone calls in conjunction with Bluetooth®, or simply call up information on the instrument cluster. Linguatronic voice control can also be activated using a button on the steering wheel. What’s more, drivers can change gear using racing-style shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. These offer an alternative to the Direct Select lever located on the steering column.

Parktronic: Parktronic is an ingenious system that helps you manoeuvre safely in and out of tight parking spaces, reducing the risk of costly bumps and scrapes. Fitted as standard on the new R-Class, it uses ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers to detect obstacles in close proximity. If there’s a danger of hitting something, Parktronic issues a visual warning in the instrument cluster display, followed by an audible warning if required.
