Overview

The brand is turning the most intelligent executive saloon into the most powerful E-Class of all time in the shape of the next generation of the E 63 4MATIC+ and E 63 S 4MATIC+. Mercedes-AMG is also setting new benchmarks in this market segment with its innovative technologies. The intelligent drive strategy raises the limits of the performance saloon’s vehicle dynamics to a completely new level. Delivering superior acceleration, the 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine generates up to 450 kW (612 hp). This makes it the most powerful engine Mercedes-AMG has ever installed in an E-Class. At the same time it is even more efficient thanks to a cylinder deactivation system fitted as standard, and thus sets the benchmark in its segment. By accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, the new executive saloon also achieves a new best time in its class.

The latest generation of the E 63 4MATIC+ and the E 63 S 4MATIC+ sees Mercedes-AMG introducing a number of new developments that redefine the performance saloon. Innovative powertrain engineering and maximum performance are combined with distinctive design, exclusive equipment and the latest infotainment features for comprehensive, connected multimedia applications.

Key facts

  • Pricing for E 63 Saloon starts at £84,915, or £94,275 for E 63 S.
  • 4MATIC+ introduced for the first time in right-hand drive AMG E 63.
  • Most intelligent executive saloon becomes most powerful E-Class of all time with the E 63 S 4MATIC+, with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine
  • The E 63 4MATIC+ generates 571 hp, has 750 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds (previous model: 557 hp, 720 Nm, 4.2 seconds).
  • The E 63 S 4MATIC+ takes peak performance to a new level at 612 hp. It has maximum torque of 850 Nm and 0-62 mph can be achieved in 3.4 seconds (previous model: 585 hp, 800 Nm, 4.1 seconds).
  • Combined fuel consumption of 26.2 mpg and CO2 emissions of 245 g/km make the E 63 4MATIC+ and E 63 S 4MATIC+ benchmark in comparison with their competitors. This efficiency is aided by a cylinder deactivation system which is fitted as standard – a first for the segment.
  • Top speed for both versions is electronically limited at 155 mph (186 mph with AMG Driver’s package – standard on E 63 S).
  • Engine features two twin-scroll turbochargers which boost performance and further improve responsiveness. Other engine enhancements include new pistons, an optimised air intake and charge air cooling, as well as extensive software developments.
  • The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system is a standard feature of both E 63 models. This newly engineered, intelligent system brings together the advantages of various drive configurations, including a Drift mode that effectively makes the car rear-wheel drive.
  • Mercedes-AMG engineers have also focused on achieving a low level of wind noise, minimal aerodynamic drag for low fuel consumption, and thermal robustness for all systems.
  • The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT (Multi Clutch Technology) nine-speed sports transmission is combined with a wet start-off clutch for the first time. This means more agile response times can be achieved.
  • The new performance saloons have a rigid bodywork structure, which creates the foundation for optimum vehicle dynamics and comfortable handling even on poor stretches of road.
  • The four different AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programmes ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, ‘Sport +’ and ‘Individual’ allow the driver to extensively influence the characteristics of their E 63 4MATIC+. Key parameters are modified such as the response of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, ESP and all-wheel drive system.
