smart has grown up and is ready to tackle new markets. The new smart Concept #1 is a near-production vision into the future of our city-focussed marque which has always stood for compact, safe and efficient transport in the city.

With the new Concept #1, the smart brand realises its ambitions to re-invent itself for a connected future. The car takes the form of a compact SUV with bold light signatures, a distinctive and elegant side profile. The halo panoramic roof brings natural light into a spacious, open cabin. The black pillars and trim elements make the roof look as if it floats above the body of the car. Full width light bars front and rear feature intricately designed elements which create an attention-grabbing light display when the car is locked or unlocked.

Characteristic short front and rear overhangs allow for immense manoeuvrability in the city whilst creating a generously sized cabin for up to four occupants. The cabin welcomes you with pillarless doors and a fascinating blend of luxury and high-tech design not yet seen in a car of this class. Ambient lighting strips flow through the doors to the dashboard and centre console. The four individual seats offer comfort levels that will raise the bar in this segment when the production version arrives.

The smart Concept #1 sits on an all-electric architecture that has been designed for dynamic handling and the highest safety standards. Rapid recharge times are assured as well as over the air updates for vehicle features and functions.

This concept is a clear view of what is to come from the smart brand as it goes through a total reinvention. The manifesto of this car sets the brand up for a luxurious, technology focused future whilst retaining the sacred pillars of efficiency, safety and compact dimensions that smart has become world renowned for.
