Get set to embrace a smarter future. The new smart #1.

Are you ready for modern thinking? The new smart #1 is here and ready to bring about the rebirth of the smart brand. The new smart #1 is a compact all-electric SUV that brings the core smart values of forward thinking into the connected age.

Driven by design, the new model is instantly recognisable as a smart product with eye-catching details such as the floating halo roof optionally available in a contrasting colour, flush door handles and frameless windows. The face of the car is determined and dynamic in its appearance with the twin-pronged running lights connected by a light bar. The design was clearly inspired by marine life with the #1 having a shark nose along with a wide, trapezoid grille below.

The front light signature is mirrored at the rear of the car with the two outer light clusters again connected by a full-width light bar which helps to emphasise the car's curved haunches. The splitting the light bar by opening the boot reveals a load space of 273 litres which can be enlarged to 411 litres by sliding the second row of seats forward.

This is where the forward thinking nature of smart continues: inside. With practical touches like the sliding second row of seats which can be adjusted by 13cm forward or back, the panoramic halo roof which allows natural light to flood the cabin and the generous interior space offered by the long wheelbase of the smart #1.

The front of the cabin features sculpted surfaces with the high central armrest that blends seamlessly into the dashboard and is accentuated by ambient lighting. The new model will, of course, be tech-focused with a large central 12.8" infotainment screen and a 9.2" digital driver's display running a bespoke operating system developed for smart. Because being outdated is outdated, the smart #1 will continuously be able to receive over the air (OTA) updates to ensure a modern and current user experience for years to come.

The cabin is just one of the many new developments for the smart #1; under the floor is the car's 66 kWh capacity battery which can provide a WLTP combined range of up to 273* miles. The model can charge at up to 22 kW AC - which is where the public charging network capability is headed - or at up to 150 kW on a DC rapid charger which can take the smart #1 from 10-80% in under 30 minutes. The battery sends electricity to the rear-mounted electric motor that can produce 268 hp and 343 nm. In short, it will be quite swift and be able to keep up with faster flowing traffic without breaking a sweat.
